With carbon content typically below 0.15%, these plates offer excellent formability, weldability, and ductility while maintaining adequate strength. The cold rolling process creates a more uniform grain structure, resulting in enhanced surface quality that's ideal for painting, plating, or other finishing treatments.
Common applications include automotive body panels, appliances, furniture, and various stamped or formed metal components where precision and surface appearance are critical.
Available in thicknesses ranging from ultra-thin gauges (0.3mm) up to about 3mm, cold rolled low carbon steel plates are often supplied in coils or cut-to-length sheets with various surface finishes (matte, bright, or extra smooth).
These plates can be easily fabricated through cutting, bending, deep drawing, or stamping operations. Compared to hot-rolled products, cold rolled plates demonstrate better strength-to-weight ratios, more consistent mechanical properties throughout the material, and superior surface characteristics.
The material is frequently used in manufacturing where close tolerances, aesthetic appeal, and structural integrity are required, such as in electronic enclosures, lighting fixtures, and precision mechanical parts.
