ASTM A36/SAE 1008 carbon steel coil is a versatile hot-rolled low-carbon steel coil that meets the requirements of both the American ASTM A36 structural steel standard and the SAE 1008 cold-formed steel standard. The carbon content of this product is controlled between 0.15-0.20%, with excellent weldability and formability, yield strength ≥250MPa, and tensile strength 400-550MPa, which can meet the needs of most structural applications.
The conventional supply thickness is 2.0-12.0mm, the width can reach 2000mm, and the surface conditions include hot rolling with oxide scale, pickling or sandblasting, which is particularly suitable for manufacturing fields that require subsequent shearing, forming or welding. As a basic structural material, it is popular in the manufacture of building frames, mechanical equipment, conveying systems and general hardware products.
Compared with single standard products, ASTM A36/SAE 1008 carbon steel coil has the advantages of dual standards: it not only maintains the structural strength of the A36 standard, but also has the excellent cold working characteristics of the SAE 1008 standard. Its manganese content (0.60-0.90%) and trace element ratio have been optimized, which significantly improves the stamping performance and ductility of the material (elongation ≥ 20%) while ensuring basic strength.
The product is usually delivered in the form of steel coils, and can provide cut-to-length services, so that customers can use it directly in automated production lines. This combination of economy and functionality makes it an ideal raw material choice for mass production projects such as automotive parts, storage shelves, and agricultural machinery, especially for industrial applications that are cost-sensitive and require reliable mechanical properties.
