Product Description
7050 Aluminum bar/rod is a high-strength aluminum alloy widely used in the aerospace and defense industries. It is known for its ultra-high strength, excellent stress corrosion resistance and good toughness. As an upgraded version of the 7000 series aluminum alloy, 7050 achieves higher fracture toughness and fatigue resistance than 7075 by adding alloying elements such as zinc (5.7-6.7%), magnesium (1.9-2.6%) and copper (2.0-2.6%) in the T7451 heat treatment state. Its tensile strength can reach 76,000 psi (524 MPa) and its yield strength can reach 67,000 psi (462 MPa). This makes 7050 aluminum bar particularly suitable for fields with extremely stringent material performance requirements, such as aircraft structural parts, landing gear, missile components and military armor.
Another notable feature of 7050 aluminum bar is its excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC), which allows it to remain stable under high humidity, salt spray environment or long-term dynamic load conditions. Although its weldability is poor (usually friction welding or bolting is required), its excellent machinability and heat treatment responsiveness make it ideal for precision component manufacturing. Compared with 7075, 7050 significantly improves durability and reliability while maintaining similar strength by optimizing alloy ratio and heat treatment process. Therefore, it is widely used in aerospace frames, high-performance racing parts and heavy industrial equipment, becoming an indispensable material in high-end engineering applications.
